Amarillo Sky
Five-year-old gelding
Westerner (sire) – Bag Of Tricks (dam)
Owner: JP Romans & Taylor, O’Dwyer
Form figures: 4710-16
Racing Post Rating: 138 (hurdles); Official rating 129 (hurdles)
We’re going to go chasing with him. He travelled quite well in the Welsh Champion Hurdle but might have just needed the run a little bit. He jumps real good and he’ll run in a 2m novice handicap chase at Chepstow tomorrow. I think he’ll be better over fences.

5g Sinndar – Accusation

RPR 106b
We were pleased with his first run at the weekend. He’s quite workmanlike on the gallops so we weren’t sure what to expect. He kept galloping through the line, and he’s from a strong-staying German family so he’ll probably improve for that no end. We’ll leave him over two and a half for now. There should be more to come.
Bertie Wooster
3g Beat Hollow – Fair Ina
Mrs C Knowles
Unraced
A nice, big Beat Hollow we bought at the Land Rover Sale, he’s a baby so we’ll run him in a bumper. He’s a half-brother to Fayonagh and is a well put-together horse and looks quite nice.
Birdman Bob
4g Flemensfirth – Brijomi Queen
Taylor & O’Dwyer

He wants a bit of dig in the ground but he’s got a fantastic pedigree, being by Flemensfirth and out of a half-sister to Monalee.
Bold Conduct
7g Stowaway – Vics Miller
J P Romans & Terry Warner
1/ (point-to-point)
RPR 94p
He won his point-to-point and is a massive horse. He still hasn’t run for us – last season he did a pelvis through the winter and when he was ready the ground wasn’t right. He shows a huge amount of ability at home and we’re excited about starting him off at Exeter today.
Butterflycollector
3g Flemensfirth – Jolivia
Susan and John Waterworth
Unraced
Another exciting three-year-old and a really nice-looking filly. She’s a half-sister to Mount Ida and Sizing Tennessee, who won the Ladbrokes Trophy for us. She’ll run in a couple of bumpers at the backend of the season and could be anything.
Christmas In April
9g Crillon – Similaresisoldofa
Swallowfield Racing
2PP4-12
RPR 143c OR 134c
He won at the beginning of this season and ran really well on Sunday when I think we bumped into one of Venetia Williams’ [Hold That Taught] who was backed. He loves those marathon trips and we might look for more of the regional nationals. The Welsh National is an option, although he was beaten in it last season.
Copperhead
7g Sulamani – How’s Business
Mrs G C Pritchard
1F/PP50-
RPR 158c OR 148c
He was wrong all last season but we think he’s back to where he should be. He was a great novice chaser and remains on a high mark, though, so there’s no easy option. We might start off in the Badger Beers and go from there, but we’ll stay chasing with him this season.
Dylan’s Double
4g Getaway – Summer Again
Brocade Racing
Unraced
He’s a nice four-year-old and was in training throughout last season. He’ll start in a bumper at Chepstow tomorrow and then go novice hurdling, but he showed enough on a racecourse gallop. He’s a lovely stamp of a horse and gets his name as he looks just like Hey Big Spender, whose stable name was Dylan.
Earth Business
5g Westerner – Shellys Creek
Mrs Catherine Penny
383-4
RPR 110 OR 117
He was probably a little bit tired when he was fourth at Chepstow last time. He’ll go for a 2m4f handicap hurdle soon and we still think he’s quite nice.
Eldorado Allen
7g Khalkevi – Hesmeralda
JP Romans & Terry Warner
114225-
RPR 158c OR 151c
He starts off in the Haldon Gold Cup on Tuesday. He’s rated 151, so if he runs a big race then that’ll nearly put him up into top Graded races. He was second in the Arkle last season so he’s clearly a smart horse. I think in time we’ll step him up in trip – we were excited to run at Aintree last season over two and a half miles but he ran as flat as a pancake. Quite a few of ours didn’t come on from Cheltenham like other years because they weren’t 100 per cent all season. Two and a quarter miles around Exeter is a lovely place to start, with the view of stepping up in trip as we go along.
Elegant Escape
9g Dubai Destination – Graineuaile
J P Romans

RPR 167c OR 160c
He’s back in and looks really well. The National is his main target this season. We might go to Cheltenham on Saturday week for a hurdle race and then we’ll give him a spin around Aintree in the Becher Chase.
Elixir De Nutz
7g Al Namix – Nutz
Terry Warner
111/77-2
RPR 126c OR 144c
We’re happy with him and we’ll go novice chasing as soon as the ground is right. He’s a Grade 1 winner and we ran him only once last season. He’s very fragile so we’ll wait until it’s soft and I expect he’ll stay at two miles.
Faustinovick
7g Black Sam Bellamy – Cormorant Cove
The Faustinovick Syndicate

RPR 130c OR 124c
He’s been second seven times from 11 runs but he hasn’t done a lot wrong. Black Sam Bellamys are late developers and he should be a good, fun horse. He could run in the boys’ race at Wincanton on Saturday. He should be competitive off his mark.

RPR 158c OR 148c
The Colin Parker had been our target for a long time and it was great to see him win it on Sunday. It looked a hot race on paper and was a good one to watch, too, so we were delighted with him. It was a lovely start, I think he’s a real good horse and I have no doubt there’s a big one in him. The boys who own him think he could win a Betfair Chase, so we think he should be competitive in a Ladbrokes Trophy off 148. We’ll have a think about it over the next week. He won a Tolworth and he got better as we went further last season. He’s very relaxed in his races and stayed the trip well at Cheltenham. We’re hoping he makes up into a Gold Cup horse.

He was bought to be a decent horse. I think he just got tired on the ground at Ffos Las but travelled nicely. He’ll get a mark and we’ll go chasing.

He’s had a great summer having won twice. The soft ground may have caught his wind out last time. He’ll have a break now but could do well in the spring.

We bought him at Doncaster as he’s related to Ultragold but he’s one of our more forward three-year-olds. He’ll be ready around the new year.

RPR 110h OR 112
He won really nicely at Newton Abbot the other day and we’ve always thought he was really sharp. The handicapper has put him up 6lb but we think he can improve. Last season he was learning on the job and hopefully he’ll continue to progress.

4g Court Cave – Lady Knightess

He shows a touch of class on the gallops at home and jumps nice. We like to think he’ll be one of our nicer novice hurdlers this season. We’ll start over two miles as he looks pretty sharp.
Kauto The King
7g Ballingarry – Kauto Luisa
Jenny Perry and Celia Goaman
F411-10
RPR 131c OR 127c
He won last four last season so he’s high in the handicap. We might go to Newbury on Thursday. He likes a bit of decent ground so we’ll look to have a strong spring campaign.
Killer Kane
6g Oscar – Native Idea
JP Romans & Taylor, O’Dwyer
1/241-3
RPR 128h OR 128h
He ran a beautiful race at Carlisle on Sunday, he jumped great and just got tired from two out. Wherever we go with him next he’ll take a lot of beating. He was bought to be a chaser and he should develop through the season. I think two and a half miles is fine for him now and we might look at a race at the Ladbrokes Trophy meeting for him. He should be one of our better novice chasers and hopefully he’ll progress right up through. I like him a lot.
King Of Lombardy
3g Milan – Uranna

We bought him at the Derby Sale. He’s got a great pedigree, being out of a Listed-winning mare, and is a big boy so we’ll take our time. He looks a lovely prospect.

7g Coastal Path – Bleu Perle
Brocade Racing
5/31PF5-
RPR 142c OR 133c
I think he’s on a real winnable mark. We’ll try to place him right as he goes well fresh and can lose a bit of a condition after his races. I’m tempted by the Badger Beers as he doesn’t mind a bit of decent ground. On his day he’s got ability.
Lamanver Pippin
8g Apple Tree – Lamanver Homerun
Dr Donna Christensen

RPR 140c OR 123c
We struggled with him last season but we didn’t have him right. He’s a little bit quirky but he’s got an engine. If all goes well at Exeter today he could be one for a Welsh National.
Lanspark
6g Milan – Sparky May
Ruxley Holdings Ltd
4581-
RPR 104h OR 104h
He’s a fun horse and we think he’s on a workable mark. He was in a point-to-point yard before we had him so we’ll go chasing and he could improve.

RPR 172c OR 162c
He’s really well and looks a million dollars. He was hobdayed through the summer and has had the full job. I’d like to take him for a racecourse gallop first but we’re not going to rush him and he’ll only run when we’re sure he’s totally 100 per cent. He’s entered in the Ladbrokes Trophy but the Many Clouds at Aintree [December 4] is in the back of our minds as a starting point. We’re keeping our options open. He’s got a bit to prove, but on his day we know he’s a very, very good horse. We think we’ve got him back to somewhere like his best.
Mister Malarky
8g Malinas – Priscilla
Wendy & Malcolm Hezel
173P-05
RPR 161c OR 151c
He’s won big races in each of the last two seasons and is now right up there in the handicap, which makes life tricky. He’ll disappoint us a few times – he’s a bit like that – but then drop to a winnable mark and run well on a going day. He’ll pop up again at some point. I don’t think we’d go back for the Grand National.

When he gets his conditions he’s very, very good. He ended up being the top-rated chaser in Britain after the Cotswold Chase at Sandown; it was a hell of a performance. He has become ground-dependent as he’s got older and it’s no fun seeing him pushed along on good ground as he’s flat out, so we won’t be putting him in that situation. He’s in beautiful form and looks magnificent. If the Betfair Chase went soft he could start there. He’ll have a Gold Cup entry but we’re concentrating on running him in his best conditions. He’s a hell of a chap and he’s been an absolute legend so we just want to look after him but we still think in his conditions he’s capable of winning one of those Graded races.

He’s a huge horse and the penny’s starting to drop now. He’s got his rating so we’ll go handicapping but we’re not sure whether we’ll try chasing with him yet. He was an expensive store and he’s grown into himself so I’m sure he’ll turn into a nice racehorse. He’s starting on the right type of mark.

RPR 145c OR 137c
He had a bit of a bad run at Uttoxeter and I don’t think he tried too hard, so we’ll try some headgear. He’ll go for the Badger Beers next, but he’s got a few questions to answer.
Oscar Elite
6g Oscar – Lady Elite

RPR 142h OR 139h
We’ll look at the next Cheltenham meeting to start him off over fences. We took him out there the last day as it was too quick – he won twice on heavy last season and it’s the wrong time to be taking risks with our best novice chaser on form. There’s loads of options for him and we’re working towards going back to Cheltenham in March.
Rectory Oak

He was really sick last autumn but I think he’ll be all right. He’s a gorgeous horse and he’s shown us he’s got ability. He’s ready to run soon and he’ll be competitive when he gets his handicap mark.

He’s fine and trotted up well after his fall last week. He was running a nice race and if he hadn’t tipped up at the last he would’ve been second or third. He had a touch of an injury at the start of last season from Cheltenham the year before. When he’s right he’s a talented horse but we’ll look after him as he’s a spring horse, when we think he’ll be competitive in a nice handicap.
Rose Of Arcadia

She’s lovely. I thought she was going to run a big race in the Mares’ Final at Newbury but she hurt herself about two or three out. She’ll start off in the decent 2m5f mares’ handicap hurdle at Wincanton on Badger Beers day but it won’t be long until she goes chasing. She looks fantastic at the moment.

She looks a real fun horse and will be entered up soon. She can make a good bit of money out of all the bonuses as she’s British-bred, so we’ll aim for those races. She ran a nice race first time out and looks a good mare.

4g Milan – Consider Her Lucky

He’s a nice Milan and ran a great race first time up. Our four-year-olds have been needing the run and he learned a lot from that race. He looks like he’s improved a ton for it already so we’ll look forward to running again.

He could have won first time out and travelled well before flattening out and finishing fourth at Warwick. We got kicked at the start at Newton Abbot last month so we’ll instead start off over hurdles at Exeter on Tuesday. He’s a lovely, beautiful-looking horse and we’re very much looking forward to him – I think he’s quite smart. We’ll start off at two miles but he’ll end up getting a bit further.

He’s got a bit of arthritis in his knee from when he fell at Aintree as a novice and that’s played him up. He ran in the Grade 2 hurdle at Wetherby on Saturday, it was probably too good a race. He’s come out of it fine and it was good to get the run under his belt. We might look at handicaps now. He did win a Grade 1 chase, though, and we’ll keep going while the knee isn’t playing up.

He had a brilliant summer but he’s quite highly rated off 145. That said, he won a good bit of prize-money in his two wins at Uttoxeter and we’ve been really pleased with him. He fell the last day but he was taken on and it might be he’s paying the price for a hard season. He wants good ground and we could go to the Badger Beers if there’s not too much rain but we’ll see.

He’s a nice horse who will probably start off at Exeter on November 10. We’re excited to take him chasing as we feel he’ll be a better horse over fences, especially as he won an English point-to-point. He’s rated 128 now but we expect him to progress. He won over 2m5½f and 2m2½f last season but he’ll probably want two and a half miles and then we can step him up in trip as we go.

If he hadn’t have tipped over at the last at Newton Abbot we would have been delighted with his run, finishing behind Bravemansgame giving him 12lb. I think he’d be near favourite for the Ladbrokes Trophy as well, which he’s got an entry for. We discussed going to Sandown for the Future Stars but that’s up in the air at the moment, he could just go straight to Newbury. He’s got a big engine and a lot of ability, and there’s no quirks with him. Like Fiddlerontheroof, he needs to find another stone to be a competitive Gold Cup horse but he’s only a six-year-old and we’ve got plenty of time.

He’s a gorgeous horse and has a great pedigree, being out of Grade 1 winner Bitofapuzzle. I thought he ran a bit green on his debut at Newton Abbot but he seems to have improved a lot for it. We’ll take our time and he’ll run in another bumper before too long.

He ran well when third at Newton Abbot a couple of weeks ago. He’s developing well and will go for a novice hurdle in a fortnight. He’s nearly good enough to win one, but if not we’ll get a handicap mark and then he’ll be winning.

He was pulled up at Wincanton last month as he was too keen and that’s always going to be a problem over three and a quarter miles. He didn’t settle and ran with the choke out so he didn’t help himself. Before that he’d been running well off his reduced mark and won his previous two races. He might not be the horse he once was but we might sneak him into the Paddy Power Gold Cup off bottom weight if it’s good ground.

Dropping back to two miles looked a good move as he won nicely at Newton Abbot on his first start over fences. That opens up a few doors for him now and we could go up to Carlisle for a graduation chase next Monday which is worth £50,000. He was a decent hurdler and we believe he’ll be an even better chaser – he looks a slick jumper.

Expert view
The good news for followers of a stable that endures a disappointing season is that it will inevitably house a number of horses who are well handicapped the following campaign.
After years of spectacular progress and subsequent consolidation near the top of the trainers’ tree, Team Tizzard dropped a few branches last term with only 37 winners.
Never forget the old maxim, ‘form is temporary; class is permanent’. Punters can take advantage of what promises to be a much better 2021-22 season by latching on to Copperhead and Rose Of Arcadia.
Copperhead oozed star quality when landing the 2020 Reynoldstown Novices’ Chase at Ascot by an impressive 17 lengths. He simply didn’t look the same horse last season but is still only seven and there is ample time for him to bounce back and win a huge prize.
Comments from Joe Tizzard that Copperhead was “wrong all last season” suggest you should put a line through his last four runs and focus firmly on the future.
If you stop the video of Newbury’s 2021 EBF Mares’ Final before the second-last you’d form the definite impression that Rose Of Arcadia, who had tanked into contention, would win easily.
The fact that she stopped quickly after being shaken up means punters can back her off a mark of 120 when she reappears, and it could be a gift if she’s fully back on song.
Helford River has taken very well to fences this term, winning at Newton Abbot and Fontwell, yet still maintains a sub-100 mark.
Testing terrain found out the son of Presenting at Fontwell last time, but I have a strong feeling he could add two or three more wins to his tally in the spring when the ground dries out again. He jumps beautifully and remains open to further improvement.
